The Dawson City Chamber of Commerce is looking for a Managing Director


Title: Managing Director

Term: Full time, year round

Salary: $25/hr based on 35 hours/week, plus $7,000.00 annual housing allowance

Closing Date: 15 November, 2018

Position Summary:

Reporting to the President of the Dawson City Chamber of Commerce (DCCC), this position is responsible for the daily operations, budgeting, and all projects the Chamber decides to undertake. This position is also responsible for all staff members and contract employees that perform duties for the DCCC.

As the Managing Director, this position will be the face of the DCCC ensuring all activities are carried out as directed by the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities

Administration:

Records and maintains the minutes of general and executive meetings. Reviews all contracts and legal documents and ensures that the Chamber meets government reporting requirements while also maintaining all official documents in an orderly system.

  • Coordinates under policy guidelines, membership services, membership renewals and retention.

  • Represents the Chamber in the public, plans and oversees public relations activities at the direction of the Board of Directors.

  • Makes recommendations to the Executive Committee concerning matters affecting the operation of the Chamber.

  • Coordinates project development and implementation.

  • Maintains a daily log of duties performed to be available at Executive meetings.

Programs/Projects Administration:

  • Serves as liaison with the contractors of the DCCC.

  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of new and existing programs/projects such as the Chamber newsletter, directory, fair exchange, promotional programs and securing additional funding, etc.

  • Serves as liaison with all organizations, agencies and levels of government at the direction of the Board of Directors.

  • Prepare bids and fund raisers for the Chamber at the direction of the Board of Directors.

  • Respond to general inquiries.

Financial:

  • Serves as signing authority on cheques and contracts.

  • Record & deposit incoming funds.

  • Maintain a record of all bills, receipts etc. to be forwarded to the bookkeeper.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Post secondary education in Finance, Business Administration, Community Development, or a mix of education and experience related to the position

  • Financial/bookkeeping knowledge.

Experience:

  • Working knowledge of Simply Accounting, Microsoft Word, Publisher, and Excel is essential.

  • Working with volunteers and a volunteer board is an asset.

  • Knowledge of Economic Development, Local Procurement, Placer Mining industry, and local area networks and departments of Government of Yukon an asset.

  • Previous supervisory experience considered an asset.

  • Experience with public relations and media an asset.

  • Event coordination experience an asset.

  • Non-profit experience an asset.

  • Strong time management skills, can work under little or no supervision.
