The Yukon Chamber of Commerce Concludes 40-year Run for a Refreshed New Beginning

On the morning of Wednesday, June 11, 2025, the Yukon Chamber of Commerce held it’s 40th Annual General Meeting. Upon achieving quorum, the membership unanimously passed a resolution to dissolve the organization… making way for a vital refresh.

The three Chambers of Commerce (CoC) in Yukon are the Dawson City CoC, the St. Elias CoC and the Whitehorse CoC. They, together with a small working group, will remain at a new ‘refresh' table, addressing the following but not limited to scope, bylaws, reach, mandate, operational resource needs, collaboration and more. This mornings resolution was supported as a way to conclude 40 years history while making way for new horizon - refreshed.

On May 27, 2025, the Yukon Chamber of Commerce submitted a formal letter to the Yukon Government expressing serious concerns about the imminent launch of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program.

The Chamber highlighted the program’s lack of clarity, high administrative burden, and potentially harmful financial impacts on Yukon businesses and consumers. The letter urges the government to delay implementation until a thorough review of economic implications and alternative approaches can be conducted.
