The Yukon Chamber of Commerce congratulates the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway on the 106th anniversary of the driving of the Golden Spike and the successful partnership between Holland America and WP & YR.
The White Pass & Yukon Route and Holland America will be bringing visitors back to Carcross in 2007 with the return of the historic railway following the historic route that transported fortune seekers during the Klondike Gold Rush. With the support and cooperation of the Carcross Tagish First Nation, this exciting era in Yukon history will continue on and draw visitors from around the world to experience the natural beauty of this great Territory.
The White Pass & Yukon Route railway has been in integral and important piece of the Yukon’s history and economy for over 100 years. “The return of scheduled service to Carcross will open new opportunities for tourism and business operators” says David Morrison, Chairperson of the Yukon Chamber of Commerce. “We are very excited to see the partnership between Holland America and White Pass grow and prosper through visionary initiatives such as this”.
